We tell you about the forest and the people (Ngobe) and why they still use these hundreds of years old trails. But at the end of the day this Hiking excursion will be about a good walk through beautiful forest and passing magnificent views. 
Old Guaymi / Ngobe Indian trailsHalf a day excursion. There is a system of unmapped old Ngobe trails around Boquete. The last ten years we did investigate this trail system and today we can offer you a range of hikes tailored to the time of year and your interest. In general we try to go to trails, where we will meet no other hikers and you truly enjoy the cloud forest. Terry or Hans will pick you up at your hotel at 8 AM. We go to one of the old Indian trails in the mountains around Boquete. The trails are not difficult or steep but they are old and still in use by the Indians. We will tell you about the Ngobe tribe and their life in this forest. This excursion is about enjoying and experiencing the cloud forest . You will be back at your hotel around +/-12AM. Note: Better to go the morning (weather) but this tour is also available in the afternoon. Tour cost 80.00 U$ for one or two persons. Duration is 4 hour. Extra person(s) 25.00 U$ per person. The Sendero Los QuetzalesTHIS IS TRULY ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TRAILS OF CENTRAL AMERICA. Full day tour. You will hike the complete trail ! But we will do this the de luxe way, meaning for all transfers we will us a Toyota Landcruiser and like all excursions Terry or Hans will be your guide. We speak you language and we will time the hike in a way you will enjoy the trail and it's nature to the max. Walking the trail this way will turn this hike in a highly enjoyable 6+ hours hike, you can take your time and experience nature. We will be at your hotel* at 8 AM, and bring you to the Ranger station. (National park Volcan Baru) Here we start the day with a good cup of our own coffee or if you wish picnic breakfast* in the wilderness. While the trail brings you through different elevation's, you will see the changes in the landscape and nature. Depending the weather there will be magnificent views. Around noon, we will stop for a lunch (bring your own or we can bring a good picnic lunch*). In the time that you are hiking and enjoying the trail, Hans or Terry will drive the car to the other site of the Volcano Baru. We will have cool drinks waiting for you, when you come of the trail. From there we continue by car back to Boquete this is a two hour scenic drive, you will note, this site of volcano Baru is totally different. On the way back we can stop( if you wish ), so you can refresh your self. You may expect to be back at your hotel* around 6 PM. Please note: This is a luxurious way of walking this trail and we will take good care of you. But you still have to hike your self, when you start you have to finish it! The sendero Los Quetzales goes though the wilderness and there no way we can be reached by car! You have to be in good condition and good health for this beautiful challenge. The best time to see the Quetzal is end of December to middle April. If you like to see the quetzal ? Please let us know, we will go to a location where you will have the best change to see this beautiful bird. But please note there is never a guaranty, it is a bird and birds fly.... The weather ? Boquete has ever lasting summer...and that is what it is but it rains also in the summer ! The weather in Boquete is in dry or wet season difficult to forecast. The Boquete area has a blanket of micro climates. The first thing we do in the morning is have a good look around and next we know where to go best. But don't worry when it rains in the afternoon (normal from April to December!) Chances are good that it will be nice and sunny again !
